It’s a wonderful life: Travel tips for Digital Nomads

Travelling the world, living life at your own terms, without burning a hole in your pocket – sounds fascinating, doesn’t it? Well, that’s the life of a digital nomad. Digital nomads travel the world partly in order to work for a client, and partly to look for work.

While the ‘work from anywhere, at any time’ lingo provides them great flexibility and a good balance between working and dedicating time to family, the biggest challenge for a newbie adopting this lifestyle is travelling without hassle. At Trip Experience Blog, we bring you some handy travel tips for digital nomads. Take a look:

Save money by travelling slow

It might sound exciting to be constantly on the go, exploring new destinations – but it surely isn’t light on the pockets. Spend a minimum of several weeks in one location. This will not only help you to get the most out of each place you make your temporary home, but will also help you save a lot of money.

Keep a stock of medicines and essential items

Medical supplies and other essential items might be easily available in your native land, but the same cannot be said about any other part of the world. It is advisable to keep a stock of medical supplies and essential items such as contact lenses, spectacles and feminine hygiene products before you move on to your next destination.

Never forget a universal travel adapter

The electric outlets are installed in different shapes in different countries. A wiser pick would be to carry a universal adapter before embarking upon your international travels. You can easily find one at any shop selling travel supplies.

Avoid working on a beach

This one might be a buzzkill, but it’s an important tip nevertheless. The word ‘digital nomad’ often comes with a vivid imagery of a person relaxing on the beach while working on his/her laptop. The prospect might be intriguing, but it actually is the most counterproductive way to work. In addition, sun and sand are enemies of your laptop, so it’s better to shield your system from these.

Stay updated with the local events

Always stay well informed of the local situations, events, festivals and observances. This will not only allow you to respect the culture of the country you are visiting, but also help you steer clear of trouble in case there is any demonstration, strike, protest, or worse – a riot.
