Shillong often referred to as the Scotland of the west, is endowed with bounties of scenic beauty that will pull you. Although you can travel to Shillong at any time as the climate is pleasant around the year. If you are planning to visit Shillong with the purpose of sightseeing and adventure activities, March to June is the perfect timing for it. In summers the temperature of Shillong ranges from 24°C to 15°C making it the best time to visit Shillong.
If you are aiming to visit Shillong for eye soothing waterfalls and rain-washed vistas of the region then the best time to visit is from June to September. Moderate to heavy rainfalls are observed in Shillong during the months of monsoons. This is not a popular time for the tourists to travel during monsoons to Shillong, you can find hotels and resorts at a reasonable price during these months.
If you want to experience chilly weather and want to indulge in outdoor activities, October to February is the best time to visit Shillong for you. With the coming up of October, the temperature starts falling. From November winters start falling in and the minimum temperature gets as low as 2°C. This time is a popular honeymoon destination. Ward’s lake Shillong:
Also known as the Pollock’s lake among locals, it is one of the most popular tourist attraction in Shillong. Situated on the banks of a lush green botanical garden. It offers absorbing views of the orchids and other colorful flowers. It is a beautiful place to witness serene beauty. You can also take up many activities from strolling across the bridge over the lake, boating on the water, and feeding the fishes.
Lady Hydari Park:
Covering an area of more than a Kilometer. This park consists of a Mini zoo. This zoo is home around 140 reptiles species, 73 avifauna species along with mammals such as deer and serow. Besides, the main tourist attraction includes Leopard, Jackal, Porcupine, Himalayan black bear, Hornbill, and Mynah. Built in Japanese style, the park also has a variety of orchids and flowering plants.
Another waterfall, which attracts tourists from places all over the world. The water from this fall hurries down from a good height, giving a very soothing experience to mind and the eye. Also known as the’ Gods own Garden’, this village was also adored as the cleanest from the year 2003 to 2005.
