The Indian Embassy in the UAE has started e-registration for Indian citizens who are willing to return home because of Coronavirus outbreak. The Embassy has informed that the details are being collected to prepare a database for the Indian government so as to bring back the expats. The Indian embassy in UAE has confirmed the details of data collection through the consulate’s website.
Indian citizens willing to return would have to provide a valid reason to go back home, and also the status of their Covid-19 test. Families and individuals are required to put in all the necessary information in the forms. The forms are available for individuals, families, and companies required.
However, a decision is yet to be made regarding the resumption of passenger flights to India. Any further announcement would be mentioned on the website and social media channels whereas all the conditions to travel would be prescribed later.
The embassy stated “All Indian nationals in the UAE are hereby informed that the Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of India, Dubai, have uploaded a form for [the] collection of data to create a database of Indians who wish to travel back to India under COVID-19 situation. The link for the registration is available on the website of the embassy as well as on the website of the CGI Dubai and can also be accessed directly at https://cgidubai.gov.in/covid_register/”.
Indian borders are shut from March 22 onwards as a nationwide lockdown is going on to prevent the spread of Covid-19 pandemic. However, a few reports have implicated that the country is planning to organize special flights for returning the expatriates.
The second phase of lockdown in India is expected to lift up on May 3, although the country is expecting to reopen several sectors in an organized manner.
